Longhu Mountain and Taoist talismans

Mount Longhu is located in Guixi City, Yingtan, Jiangxi Province, China. It is regarded as the birthplace of Taoism and a nationally designated scenic area, honored as the “Ancestral Court of Taoism.” Mount Longhu is renowned for the unique fusion of three wonders: a sacred Taoist holy land, a Danxia landform often described as a fairy realm, and the ancient cliff tombs of the Yue people. More than just a mountain of natural beauty, it is a living museum of Taoist culture that has profoundly influenced Chinese religion, philosophy, and folk traditions. Visitors can both appreciate its striking landscapes and explore the mysterious, millennia-old heritage of Taoism.

As the ancestral seat of the Zhengyi (Orthodox Unity) tradition of Taoism, Mount Longhu holds a central place in Taoist culture and folk belief through its fu talismans (collectively known as fu). These are not ordinary drawings, but sacred mediums believed to “connect heaven and humanity, summon deities and command spirits, and ward off evil and suppress negative forces.”
